You know, even with all the tools I have at my disposal for keeping a steadily updated Blog, days, even weeks pass between posts for me. I’m not sure how it happens. Sure, a lot of the time I’m tired from work. And I have my hobbies, many of them somewhat time consuming: Video games, my AniGaming.com site, avid web surfing and news reading, and, especially lately, voracious reading via eBooks (I’ve ripped through Alan Dean Foster’s Pip and Flinx series of novels in the space of a week and a half or so and am currently debating wether I want to remmain in his Humanx Commonwealth literary universe and rea his other novels in that setting, or wether it would be best to do a change of pace from Sci-Fi to Fantasy with David Eddings or the Dragonlance saga), but there seem to be lots of people out there who devour information with as much, or perhaps more, intensity than I do, and yet their Blogs are lively, updated almost hourly, it seems.

What a week. Longer than a week, actually. And it doesn’t look like it gets much easier for the rest of the month. Work’s been hell. Not hell as in my boss pulling his dick out at me or anything, but just from the sheer exhausting amount of it. Juggling multiple incompleted projects while my boss keeps deciding that it’s time to install them and put them live (when they’re not finished), thus making me look bad when they blow up (never mind that I tell him they’re still not finished)… I haven’t even had the energy to write on the Z. The Z’s been active, don’t get me wrong, but it’s mostly just been playing Ogg files and letting me read eBooks. Enough bitching about work. On to the eBooks. (more…)

So, it’s no secret that I’ve been playing a fairly decent amount of Ragnarok Online lately, and quite enjoying myself while doing so. However, there’s one thing in the game that annoys me to no end. No, it’s not the lag, or the KS’ers, or the lamers or clueless n00bs. It’s those goddamn happy face masks.

Well, my ear’s finally stopped trying to explode, and the pain’s almost completely gone. I still can’t hear very well out of it, but overall I’m gonna go ahead and call this an improvement. And the lack of pain lets me appreciate the little things in life, like the SciFi convention that’s coming up on the 18th.

Cinco de Mayo.While others were celebrating the mexican holiday (mostly by getting stinking drunk, I presume), I spent the day trying to get my boss’ laptop to work properly (why he insists on showing off software that even I, its developer, consider a buggy beta, to prospective clients, is beyond me), and visiting the cows over at Salinas (and getting there too late to get much useful done, thanks to the aforementioned laptop). Oh, yeah, there’s also that blinding earache I’ve had all day. At least the Z proved itself to be a more than capable OGG and MP3 player today.

Ugh.. I think it says something about how long and horrible today was that I haven’t even gotten up the energy to write anything about it at all until this time of night. It would be too cliche to say that everything that could go wrong went wrong, so I’ll just say that about half the stuff that could have gone wrong went wrong.

I’ve had what I like to call a good coding day. Coding, when done right, is a lot like writing or any other art. Nuch like writer’s block, sometimes there are days where you just can’t seem to code even the simplest of if..else statements. And then there are days wheb you’re golden, and the most complex of algorithms bend to your indomitable will and fearsome skill.
