Broadcast Flag introduction averted?
Well, Slashdot’s got an article up which says that the bill that the EFF warned us about, just passed, but with no Broadcast Flag ammendments. What does this mean? It means that the Broadcast Flag stuff was never inserted in there before it was passed.
While this is undoubtedly a good thing, it begs the question: why?
Was it because of the letter-writing, faxing, e-mailing and phone calling campaign by the EFF?
Was it because the senators actually saw that it was a horrible idea and didn’t introduce the amendment themselves?
Or was it because the whole thing was made up to begin with?
No clue, I’m just happy that we’re still Broadcast Flag free. In any case, the Slashdot comment thread here s delightfully full of nutty conspiracy theories, go check ‘em out.
