you might think that after making 4 or so other posts today, that I might wuss out on my nightly pair of paragraphs for Massively Multiplayer, but you’d be wrong. Herein lies the next few strokes of the epic battle between Rathnar and the overgrown birds: wherein our hero unveils his secret weapon. Enjoy!

He ducked down low as one of the birds pecked right for his face. He felt the tree behind him shudder with the impact, and barely managed to roll to his side and away as the creature, its beak stuck in the wood, thrashed around, making horrible screeching noises. The other birds seemed to back away nervously at this sight, buying Rathnar a couple of seconds. That was all he needed.

Rathnar reached into his backpack, his fingers instinctively closing around the neck of a bottle. In a flash, the bottle was in his hand, and he had broken the seal, quickly and greedily swallowing the bitter potion. The effect was immediate: he could feel strenght and speed surging through him. His vision sharpened, reflexes heightened. The world seemed to move in slow motion around him as he grinned savagely. The gold spent on the Potion of Speed would not go to waste.
