Massively Multiplayer: The Podiobook!
I know, I know… I haven’t updated Massively Multiplayer in ages. That’s changing, though. I’ve got some creativity coming back (although my lack of talent remains about the same), and I’m starting to write again. There will be some new chapters up soon. But in the meantime, I’ve decided to try a little experiment: I’m going to be podcasting the bits that I’ve already written, as a podiobook! I recorded the first chapter today, and edited it up with some intro and bumper music on the iMac with Audacity, and I think it came out fairly spiffy. The whole thing is less than 5 minutes long, and the file itself is somewhere around 3.5 MB, so you have no excuses to not download it and give it a listen. This is my first time actually reading fiction like this, and especially my own fiction, so, please, leave me some feedback and let me know what you think of it. If you guys like it, I’ll definetly make more and keep writing, if not, I’ll just chalk it up to another failed experiment and find something else to entertain myself with. I’m easy like that.

BTW, all music for this podiobook is provided by the New Legends (Visions of You), via the Podsafe Music Network.

And I have to discover this from a Google search? Katsu, Katsu, Katsu… for shame.
The least you could have done was told me about it. I trust that once you have your first five chapters, you’ll be providing it via Podiobooks.com?

Evo! My deepest apologies, the whole “let’s put this up as a podiobook and see what happens” thing was a bit spur of the moment. But yes, as the official Dragon Page representative in Puerto Rico (yeah, I’m *that* guy), it goes without saying that, if I do keep this going, Podiobooks.com would be the only home I’d want for it.

First time I’ve listened to an audiobook type thing.
It was…weird. Dunno if I’d want to keep listening to it. Think I’d rather just read it, honestly.

Heh, audiobooks aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. I had never listened to one before the whole ‘Podiobook’ thing started, and then I started listening to Scott Sigler’s ‘Earthcore’ and Tee Morris’ ‘Morevi’, and I fell in love with it. I now lisen to about 5 at a time no problem, and can even say that I enjoyed the Harry Potter 6 audiobook version far more than the book itself. On the other hand, my girlfriend tried to listen to one, and she had much the same reaction you did. So it depends on the person. At least you didn’t go “OMG that suxx0rz ROFLOLOL!!1″

Your chapters do need a bit of work though … that wasn’t really a chapter, more like a paragraph. You have the style down though.

Yeah, I thought of that too. The next podiobook entry will probably be ‘chapters’ 2-4 or maybe 2-5, to make it a decent-sized one. I was gonna do that with this one, but I decided to keep it short as a test. I’m hoping to have more of it written before the end of the week, which is when I’d release the next one. My general idea is to stay one chunk of podiobook ahead of hwat’s being released. But don’t worry, the next ones will be meatier, and I’m doing some editing on the ones that are already done to make them better work as narration. And for those of you who like reading it, I’ll release the text of the book a couple of days after the podiobook chapter is out.. so people have a chance to listen without spoilers first.
